The Newcomer Program

Turn first-time browsers into customers who ask for your cigars by name.

A free beginner course, handed out through a small QR card on your counter. It recommends beginner cigars from your humidor, at your prices, and sends newcomers back to your counter to buy them.

The customer you already know

Someone walks in, stares at the humidor for a few minutes, and leaves with nothing. Or they grab the biggest, darkest stick on the shelf, have a rough first smoke, and you never see them again.

First-timers don't know what to ask for, and many feel awkward admitting it. Your staff can help, but only when the newcomer speaks up and the floor isn't busy.

How it works

  1. 1

You give me 4–6 beginner cigars you stock

Mild-to-medium sticks, with your single-cigar prices. You choose them, so you can feature what you want to move.

  2. 2

I build your shop's page and print your QR cards

The page reads "Cigar Basics, courtesy of [your shop]" and lists your Shop Picks. I bring the cards to you.

  3. 3

A newcomer scans the card and gets a free 5-lesson course

What a cigar is, what to say at the counter, humidor manners, how to cut and light it, and how to smoke slowly, without inhaling.

  4. 4

They come back and ask for your picks by name

The buying lesson tells them to ask for your Shop Picks at your counter, and the picks stay on their signup page for the next visit.

What your shop gets

Customers who know what to ask for

They walk in with a name and a price in mind, for a faster, more confident sale.

Sales of your own stock

Every pick on your page is a cigar from your shelf. Nothing points to another store or an online retailer.

A better first experience

Beginners learn to start mild, cut and light properly and not inhale, so the first cigar goes well and they come back for a second.

Your signup count

Every signup records which shop's card it came from. Each month I tell you how many newcomers your card brought in.

What it costs

Nothing.

No fee, no contract, no minimum. I print the cards, build your page and keep your picks current. You can stop anytime.

See it for yourself

This is a sample of the page a newcomer lands on after scanning a card. Yours would show your shop's name and your picks:

Straight answers

Do you sell cigars? +

No. I never sell cigars, and I never will.

Will you send my customers to online retailers? +

No. I never link to online cigar retailers. Your page recommends your picks and sends people to your counter.

What's the catch? How do you make money? +

The free course mentions two optional paid courses from me that build on it: The Regular ($12), a 30-day playbook for talking cigars with confidence, and The Aficionado ($27), a 90-day guided tasting of 12 cigars, mild to full. I don't sell cigars, and I never will.

What about the age limit? +

The cards, page and course are marked 21+ only, and signup asks people to confirm they're of legal age. Your normal ID check still applies at the register.

What happens to my customers' emails? +

I use them for the course and occasional offers. They can unsubscribe anytime, and I never sell or share their details.

What if my stock changes? +

Send me a quick text or email with the swap and I'll update your page.

Can I stop anytime? +

Yes. Tell me and I'll pick up the cards and take your page down.
